The king of comedy, Kapil Sharma is back on the big screen with the sequel to his first film Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon 2. The film released on December 12, but audiences do not seem to be warming up to it. Despite expectations riding high on Kapil’s popularity and the strong recall value of the 2015 hit, the sequel’s Day 1 numbers have raised concerns about its box office future.

Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon 2: Day-wise Box Office collection

As per early estimates by Sacnilk, Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon 2 earned Rs 1.85 crore on its opening day. The film showed marginal growth on day two, collecting around Rs 2.50 crore net. With this, the total domestic box office collection stands at approximately Rs 4.35 crore so far. Theatre attendance has also remained on the lower side, with the film recording an overall Hindi occupancy of 21.57 per cent on Saturday.

Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon 2: Comparison with the first film

The gap between the sequel and the original film is clearly visible when it comes to opening numbers. Released in 2015, Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon had a much stronger start at the box office. The film earned Rs 10.20 crore on its opening day, followed by Rs 8.60 crore net on day two, taking its two-day total to Rs 18.8 crore. These figures are significantly higher than the sequel’s current performance.

Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon 2: Story, cast and more

The sequel revolves around a man who dreams of marrying the woman he loves but is pushed into complicated situations that result in him marrying three women from different religions. The confusion that follows forms the crux of the film’s comedy. The story attempts to highlight the humorous side of modern relationships, love and chaos through situational humour.

Produced by Ratan Jain, Ganesh Jain and Abbas Mustan, the film stars Kapil Sharma alongside Hira Warina, Ayesha Khan, Tridha Choudhury, Manjot Singh and Parul Gulati. It is a follow-up to the 2015 comedy that also featured Varun Sharma, Manjari Fadnis, Simran Kaur Mundi, Sai Lokur and Elli Avram.

Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon 2: Current box office verdict

While the first film went on to become a box office success, the sequel is struggling to find similar footing. With collections of just over Rs 4 crore so far, Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon 2 will need a strong turnaround in the coming days to improve its box office standing.
