In the glamour-driven world of Bollywood, rumours about stars going under the knife or opting for cosmetic procedures are almost as common as red-carpet appearances. Janhvi Kapoor, in a free-flowing chat with the hosts on Two Much With Kajol & Twinkle, said she approached cosmetic procedures very intelligently with the guidance of her mother Sridevi, adding that she believed in transparency but not in promoting unrealistic beauty ideals.

‘I don’t want to perpetuate idea of perfection amongst young girls’

“I don’t necessarily believe in gatekeeping and all. I was one of those young girls who was fairy impressionable with the onset of social media and seeing everyone judged and look a certain way and I don’t ever want to perpetuate amongst young girls this idea of perfection. I think I am a big believer in ‘you do, you do’, whatever makes you happy. I feel very happy to be completely open book about these things,” Janhvi told Kajol and Twinkle.

Speaking candidly about what she thinks about cosmetic enhancements and unrealistic beauty standards that often affect young women, Janhvi cautioned young women against chasing perfection.

“We all heard these ridiculous lines that I had a mosquito bite on my face and that’s why my face has changed. You have actually looked at that sentiment and changed it around for yourself. What made you so open about talking about you know…” host Kajol asked the Param Sundari actor about her being transparent about beauty procedures.

‘Have been very intelligent and conservative about what I have done’

“I think I have been very intelligent, conservative and proper about what I have done. I have had the guidance of my mom and I like to share that,” said Janhvi.

She warned the young girls who might come across videos online and feel tempted to undergo procedures like buffaloplasty without properly understanding. “If something goes wrong, it will be the worst thing,” Janhvi warned, stressing it is important to be informed and careful.

“You know, I saw this other video the other day where some doctors, or some self-proclaimed doctors, were like, ‘let’s do a review of everything that this person has done to their face.’ And they had my picture come up, and they said things like some buffalo plasty or something, I don’t know what!”
