Former Liverpool skipper Steven Gerrard believes the two favourite clubs of all-time Manchester United and Arsenal are at high risk of dropping into the Europa League after both saw their chances of qualifying into Champions League knockout stages plunge into doubts.
Steven Gerrard said that it would be tough for United to play away game against Wolfsburg, which remained unbeaten in their previous 29 home games.
Expressing similar views on Arsenal, Gerrard said that it would be a big task for Arsene Wenger’s side to score goals against Greek club Olympiakos, the Daily Express reported.
United headed towards the tunnel with the scoreline goalless in their last seven games in all competitions.
United are second behind Wolfsburg in Group B with one game remaining, and now have to defeat leaders Wolfsburg in their final match next month to secure their spot in the knockout stages.
Meanwhile, Arsenal who are currently at the third spot in Group F, will advance in League only if they manage to beat Olympiakos by at least a two-goal margin on December 9.
