Amid the success that Imtiaz Ali directorial ‘Chamkila’ has been enjoying since its release on Netflix in April, a concern regarding Diljit Dosanjh’s look in the film has been floating around. Several people have questioned whether Dosanjh, who previously said he will never remove his turban to play a character, cut his hair for the role.

Putting the speculations to rest, Imtiaz Ali has clarified that Dosanjh did not cut his hair for the role and wore a wig. In an interaction with Radio Nasha, Imtiaz confirmed the use of a wig. “That wig is like his turban only. He has not sacrificed a single hair for this film. Because he played a character and he knew how Chamkila looked, so he managed to look the part with a wig. He donned the look very sincerely and with very good intentions,” he said.

Parineeti Chopra on working with Dosanjh

Parineeti Chopra, who played the role of Chamkila’s second wife in the film, shared her experience of working with Dosanjh. In a podcast, she said the two bonded over spirituality. Off-camera, Dosanjh is shy and can be found thinking a lot, a trait they both share, Chopra said. “This phase of Diljit Dosanjh winning hearts shouldn’t change, he is a vibe. One day we were sitting and talking about how he has now figured out who he is and what the audience wants. His music, film, wardrobe choices, and everything in his life are a reflection of that understanding,” she added.
