Aditya Dhar’s Dhurandhar has been roaring at the box office since its release on December 5. The spy action film, inspired by real events, stars Ranveer Singh, Akshaye Khanna, Arjun Rampal, R. Madhavan and others. In just five days, the film has earned extremely well and has become one of the mega blockbusters of 2025.
Dhurandhar cast salaries
Along with the film’s success, the reported salaries of the main cast have drawn a lot of attention. As per a report by News18, Ranveer Singh, who plays an Indian intelligence agent, is rumoured to be the highest-paid actor in the film. As per the report, he charged between Rs 30 crore and Rs 50 crore for his role.
R. Madhavan, who plays the role of Ajay Sanyal, has reportedly earned around Rs 9 crore. Akshaye Khanna and Sanjay Dutt are said to have taken home about Rs 2.5 crore each. Arjun Rampal has reportedly been paid Rs 1 crore for his part, while actress Sara Arjun is also rumoured to have charged around Rs 1 crore.
Director denies biopic rumours
There were rumours that Dhurandhar was based on the life of late Major Mohit Sharma, an Ashok Chakra awardee. Director Aditya Dhar put out a statement on X (formerly Twitter) to clear the confusion. He said the film is not based on Major Sharma’s life. He added that if he ever makes a biopic on the officer, it would only be with full consent from the family and in a way that properly honours his service.
What is Dhurandhar all about
The film follows Ranveer Singh’s character, an undercover agent involved in a high-risk mission. The action scenes, sequences and performances by the actors have been appreciated by viewers. Ranveer’s intense performance has received strong praise, with many calling it his ‘career-best’ performance. Akshaye Khanna’s performance has become the talk of the town as he depicts Rehman Dakait.
Analysts predict a strong run ahead
Trade experts say that while weekday collections may slow down slightly, Dhurandhar is expected to continue performing well. Positive reviews, star power and strong word of mouth are keeping Dhurandhar strong at the box office. The film’s earnings from India and overseas markets together are keeping the numbers strong.
As the first week continues, analysts believe Dhurandhar will remain in double-digit collections. If it keeps up this pace, it could become one of Ranveer Singh’s biggest hits of the year and one of the top action thrillers of 2025.
