Coolie Box Office Collection Day 12: Rajinikanth’s action entertainer Coolie, directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, has completed 12 days at the box office. After a blockbuster opening and a record-breaking first week, the film is now showing signs of slowing down. According to early trade estimates by Sacnilk, Coolie earned around Rs 3 crore net in India on its second Monday, marking its lowest single-day collection since release. Despite the dip, the Rajinikanth-starrer continues to dominate the Tamil box office and has already marked its position as one of the highest-grossing Tamil films of all time, crossing the Rs 500 crore mark worldwide.
Coolie Box Office opening weekend collection
The film released on August 14, clashing directly with Ayan Mukerji’s mega release War 2, starring Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR. While both films attracted massive crowds, Rajinikanth’s star power gave Coolie the initial edge, helping it deliver one of the biggest openings of 2025. The film collected a staggering Rs 65 crore on day one, followed by Rs 54.75 crore on its first Friday. The weekend maintained strong momentum with Rs 39.5 crore on Saturday and Rs 35.25 crore on Sunday. However, collections saw a sharp dip on the first Monday when the film managed only Rs 12 crore, a fall of nearly 66 percent. The weekdays continued with smaller numbers, and the first week closed at an impressive Rs 229.65 crore net in India.
Coolie Box Office second week performance
The second week brought some stability for the film. After collecting Rs 5.85 crore on its second Friday, the numbers picked up with Rs 10.5 crore on Saturday and Rs 11.35 crore on Sunday, giving the film a strong weekend boost. However, the second Monday collections slipped again to just Rs 3 crore, the lowest so far in its run. With this, Coolie’s total in India now stands at Rs 260.35 crore net in just 12 days.
As per Sacnilk, trends suggest that the Telugu version of the film recorded around 15 percent occupancy on its second Monday, with slight variations across different show timings. The Tamil version continues to lead in collections, while the Hindi version has also performed decently, contributing more than Rs 26 crore to the domestic total. This pan-India appeal has helped Coolie achieve remarkable numbers despite the heavy competition.
Coolie vs War 2 Box Office Collection day 12
The big box office battle this Independence Day weekend was always between Coolie and War 2. While Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR’s action spectacle has also posted strong numbers with Rs 222 crore net in India in 11 days, it still trails behind Rajinikanth’s film, which crossed Rs 260 crore in 12 days. At the global box office, Coolie has surged ahead, crossing the Rs 500 crore mark, while War 2 continues its steady run. Trade experts believe that the clash has affected both films’ lifetime potential, but for now, Rajinikanth’s film holds the upper hand and has emerged as the bigger winner.
Coolie: Storyline, cast and audience response
Directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, Coolie is an action-packed drama that shows Rajinikanth as Deva, a former union leader who takes on a powerful cartel lord Simon, played by Nagarjuna, and his ruthless ally Dayal, played by Soubin Shahir. The Coolie cast also has Shruti Haasan, Sathyaraj, Upendra and even a surprise cameo by Aamir Khan. Unlike Lokesh’s earlier films such as Kaithi, Vikram and Leo, Coolie does not belong to his larger cinematic universe. The film received mixed reviews from critics, with many praising Rajinikanth’s charisma and mass appeal while pointing out the predictability of the storyline. However, none of the criticism has stopped fans from flocking to theatres, proving once again the unmatched pull of a Rajinikanth release.
Coolie Box Office estimates in coming days
With weekdays showing a clear downward trend, all eyes are now on how Coolie performs in its third weekend. If the film manages to hold steady, it could add significantly to its lifetime total and even aim for the Rs 300 crore mark in India. Even with its recent slowdown, Coolie has already achieved what most films can only dream of, delivering one of the biggest blockbusters of 2025.
