Coolie Box Office Collection: Rajinikanth’s latest blockbuster Coolie hit the ₹250 crore milestone on Sunday, riding on improved earnings during its second weekend at the box office.
The film, directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, was released on 14 August to celebrate the superstar’s 50th year in cinema. After a strong opening weekend, the film faced a sharp dip in collections during weekdays but managed to bounce back on its second weekend.
Strong Second Weekend Pushes Coolie Past ₹250 Crore
On Monday, Day 5, Coolie had already entered the ₹200 crore club. By Sunday (Day 11), the movie added ₹6.27 crore net until 5 PM, according to early estimates by industry tracker Sacnilk. This came after the film saw an impressive 79.49% growth in ticket sales on Saturday.
With this, Coolie’s 11-day domestic total stands at ₹252.27 crore. Final figures are expected to be higher once evening and night show earnings are added.
Coolie Worldwide Collection & Occupancy
The film, released in five languages—Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, Malayalam, and Kannada— has enjoyed massive pan-India appeal. On Sunday, Coolie reported 34.66% Tamil occupancy (24.14% in the morning and 45.18% in the afternoon), while its Hindi occupancy stood at 13.88% (7.13% morning, 20.62% afternoon).
Globally, Coolie has emerged as the biggest Indian opener of 2025. By Day 10, it had earned a gross of ₹463.5 crore worldwide—₹291.5 crore from India and ₹172 crore overseas.
Coolie vs War 2
Coolie and Hrithik Roshan–Jr NTR starrer War 2 released on the same day—14 August, during Independence Day week. While both films clashed at the box office, Coolie has now pulled ahead.
On Day 11, Coolie earned ₹6.27 crore, while War 2 managed ₹4 crore. Though the difference is narrow, it still impacts War 2’s standing, which currently stands at ₹218.5 crore domestic.
Featuring an ensemble cast including Nagarjuna, Upendra, Soubin Shahir, Sathyaraj, Shruti Haasan, Reba Monica John, Junior MGR, and Monisha Blessy, Coolie also has cameo appearances by Aamir Khan and Pooja Hegde, boosting its star power.
