With IPL going on, there is no dearth of entertainment for Indian audiences. Yet, Chhaava’s growth at the box office has been consistent. Even as Sunday’s match between Chennai Super Kings and Sunrisers Hyderabad was a highly anticipated one, it did not hinder the movie’s run. Currently in its sixth week, Chhaava still saw a slight increase in its collections.

According to Sacnilk, Vicky Kaushal’s period drama experienced a 31 percent jump in its collections on Sunday, minting Rs 4.8 crore. With this boost, its total domestic earnings rose to Rs 583.35 crore. It has earned Rs 780 crore worldwide, including Rs 90.50 crore from overseas markets.

With these numbers, Chhaava is just Rs 14 crore away from breaking Stree 2’s record, which was the highest grossing Hindi movie of 2024. Chhava has already left behind several major blockbusters in terms of domestic net collections. Some of those films are Shah Rukh Khan’s Pathaan (Rs 543.09 crore), Ranbir Kapoor’s Animal (Rs 553.87 crore), Sunne Deol’s Gadar 2 (Rs 525.7 crore), and Aamir Khan’s PK (Rs 340.80 crore).

However, it is still trailing behind Shah Rukh Khan’s biggest blockbuster Jawan.

Chhaava is an action film that chronicles the life of Sambhaji Maharaj, the second ruler of the Maratha Empire, portrayed by Vicky Kaushal. Directed by Laxman Utekar and produced by Dinesh Vijan under Maddock Films., Chhaava is an adaptation of the Marathi novel Chhava by Shivaji Sawant.
