In a recent Weverse livestream, he dropped a major easter egg, hinting at something “huge” coming soon. A long dormant fan-theory has since reignited, as his supporters are convinced this is his way of telling them that he will be a part of the superhit global sensation, Squid Game 3.

His brief confession has got BTS ARMYs’ minds racing on the treadmill as they went into overdrive mode to solve the mystery at hand. While all cards – turned upside down – are on the table, K-pop lovers are mostly counting on the singer’s admission aligning with their years-long dream: To see Taehyung return to the actors’ table.

Although he did not lift the mysterious shroud concealing the truth behind his cryptic admission, eagle-eyed fans believe Squid Game 3 will officially revive the “Taehyung Actor” agenda after a nearly decade-long wait. BTS‘ V prominently left his mark on the K-drama scene by stepping in as a consequential support cast addition to the 2016 historical series Hwarang: The Poet Warrior Youth. Fans have been hoping for him to put on his acting cape again ever since then.

Squid Game actors also contributed to the BTS V fever

Earlier this year, BuzzFeed came right out and popped the big question to the leading cast of the superhit Netflix K-drama during an interview. Though remaining tight-lipped on the issue, Lee Jung Jae and Wi Ha Joon tried their best to weigh in on the rumours without giving away anything.

While Lee didn’t confirm Taehyung’s appearance in the series, he didn’t deny it either. “I can’t say anything about that,” a beaming Lee Jung Jae responded curtly. Meanwhile, Wi Ha Joon took a step back, asserting his “No Comment” stance on the matter.

Their reactions instantly took over social media, as internet sleuths did all they could to pull apart their responses and mould them into a hopeful confirmation of sorts.

Even Taehyung fed into the hot speculations by coming out onto the stage wearing the signature Squid Game red jumpsuit during a “Permission to Dance On Stage” concert outing.

On an optimistic note, the agenda isn’t as far-fetched as it may seem. The second season of the OTT megahit already rolled out the welcome mat for a good number of K-pop idols – former BIGBANG member T.O.P., ex-Iz*One singer Jo Yuri and idol-turned actor Yim Siwan, who used to be a member of the now-defunct boy group ZE:A. YDG, aka Yang Dong Geun is yet another established artist who shares musical and performing roots. Even other leading star cast members have collided with singing or theatre.
