BTS member Suga has officially been discharged from South Korea’s mandatory military service, marking a major milestone as all seven members of the globally famous K-pop group have now completed their national duties. His military services concluded on June 21, though he had effectively completed them earlier using his remaining leave days, as per a statement released by Big Hit Music, the band’s agency.
Suga, whose real name is Min Yoon-gi, gave his services not as an active-duty soldier but as a social service agent. This is an alternative role often allotted because of health or other considerations. While BTS members Jin, RM, V, J-Hope and Jungbook have all completed their service with some level of public attention. No formal event was conducted for discharge of Suga, reportedly to ensure safety and to prevent crowding.
Suga’s emotional message for fans
Suga, after getting discharged, interacted with his fans on the group’s official fan communication platform, Weverse. In a heartfelt message, he mentioned, ‘’I’m sorry for the disappointment and concern caused by what happened last year,’’ referring to an incident where he was fined 15 million won (around $11,500) for a drunk driving violation involving an electric scooter. He also shared an apology note to his fellow band members for the controversy.
His message echoed with fans, many of them displayed their constant support and anticipation for the group’s future activities.
