It was a huge holiday and expectations are that the public would head to the theatres. While reasons for that not happening are clear still, when it comes to the options being ordinary, it must be said that people would rather stay at home and celebrate this important festival with friends and at other kin’s places considering Baar Baar Dekho has nor received any real good response from anyone.
So those who were clutching at straws and seeing a face-saver of sorts from the Eid crowds at cinemas for the movie have been sadly left disappointed. In fact, most of the new movies from Bollywood that have been releasing over the last few weeks have been barely bothering the box office. The industry is worried and it must be hoping that this does not translate into a trend of sorts.
However, what is clear is that except for the really established stars, the public is just not interested in seeing movies by anyone else in great numbers. Katrina Kaif is an established star and Malhotra has just about made his presence felt in Bollywood, but her movies have been doing just about fair-to-middling business. Ultimately, the pulse of the nation, it seems, is being controlled by the likes of Akshay Kumar, Salman Khan, Aaamir Khan, and Shah Rukh Khan, who regularly churn out Rs 50-100 cr hits.
So, what kind of collections have been logged by Baar Baar Dekho? With Rs 26.28 cr take by day 5 (Friday), this Katrina Kaif-starrer is gradually winding its way down in cinemas. By Friday the trip would be over as new movies are all set to muscle it out.
The competition coming Baar Baar Dekho way is nothing less than stiff. First in line is the veteran actor Amitabh Bachchan starrer, PINK. It will ensure Baar Baar Dekho death knell is sounded and also releasing on that day is Raaz Reboot, which is unlikely to bother anyone too much at all.
