After the underwhelming performance of Tiger Shroff’s last film Bade Miyan Chote Miyan, expectations were high for his much-anticipated comeback with Baaghi 4. However, despite high expectations, the latest chapter in the popular action franchise’s weekend collections have fallen short compared to the earlier films. Baaghi 4 had a slow run at the box office even in its opening weekend.
Baaghi 4 box office collection
Released on Friday, Baaghi 4 opened with collections of Rs 12 crore, followed by a significant dip on Saturday, earning Rs 9.25 crore, marking a 23% decline. On Sunday, the film recovered marginally, collecting Rs 10 crore, bringing the total domestic earnings to Rs 31.25 crore over three days.
About Baaghi 4
Produced by Sajid Nadiadwala and directed by A. Harsha who made his Bollywood debut, Baaghi 4 was one of the most anticipated releases of the season. Trade experts had predicted a great opening weekend, but the film’s performance has been lukewarm. Industry analyst Taran Adarsh highlighted the impact of Ganesh Visarjan festivities on Saturday’s numbers, saying, “#Baaghi4 witnessed a dip on Saturday, with business impacted by the #GaneshVisarjan festivities in several parts of the country… The 50% off offer continues on Sunday, so the weekend numbers will remain respectable.”
In an attempt to counter the festive slowdown, the makers introduced a 50% discount on theatre tickets, which was extended through Sunday. Despite the strategy, the collections remained moderate.
On Sunday, the film recorded an overall 27.08% occupancy in the Hindi market, with evening shows performing the strongest, registering 37% footfall. Among regional circuits, the NCR region led with 31% occupancy across 792 screens, while Mumbai, where the film was screened across 549 theatres, reported a relatively modest 24% turnout.
Baaghi 4 is the lowest performing film in the franchise
When compared to earlier films in the franchise, Baaghi 4 is off to the weakest start. Baaghi 3 had amassed Rs 53.83 crore in its opening three days, while Baaghi 2 registered a remarkable Rs 73.10 crore during the same period.
Adding to the challenge, Baaghi 4 is facing intense competition from the Hollywood horror franchise The Conjuring: Last Rites, which released on the same day. The supernatural thriller outperformed Tiger Shroff’s film by a significant margin, raking in Rs 50.50 crore net in India over the same three-day period.
While we are still waiting to see whether Baaghi 4 can pick up some momentum in the coming weekdays, industry trackers suggest that the film needs a sharp uptick to match its franchise reputation.
