55th Kerala State Film Awards: Malayalam superstar Mammootty was adjudged Best Actor for his performance in Rahul Sadasivan’s 2024 horror drama Bramayugam at the 55th Kerala State Film Awards announced on November 3, while Shamla Hamza took home the trophy for Best Actress for her role in Feminichi Fathima. Manjummel Boys bagged a total of nine awards, including Best Film of the year, as per The Hindu. The awards were announced by Kerala Minister for Fisheries, Culture and Youth Affairs Saji Cherian at a press conference. Sadasivan’s Bramayugam too received multiple awards.

Out of the total 128 films submitted for the awards, only 26 films were shortlisted. Apart from Mammootty, other popular considerations were Mohanlal, Asif Ali, Tovino Thomas, Kani Kusruti, Divya Prabha, Anaswara Rajan, and Nazriya Nazim. Chidambaram won the Best Director award and Best Original Screenplay writer for Manjummel Boys.

Actor-filmmaker Prakash Raj, Ranjan Pramod, Jibu Jacob, Bhagyalakshmi, Gayathri Ashokan, Nithin Lukose, Santhosh Echikkanam and C Ajoy were part of the jury.
