The 2025 MBC Entertainment Awards honoured the best contributions made to the Korean variety entertainment world on December 29. A-listers Jun Hyun Moo and Jang Do Yeon, who were also the Grand Prize nominees this year, once again presented their united front as co-hosts of the live ceremony.
Despite certain controversies shrouding the prestigious variety awards show, the live event went ahead as planned, with the exception of certain stars like Park Na Rae and SHINee’s Key sitting it out.
Yoo Jae Suk’s Grand Prize streak continues
Affectionately known as the ‘National MC’ in South Korea, Yoo Jae Suk snagged his 9th daesang at the MBC Entertainment Award, marking his 21st overall Grand Prize. While at the MBC Media Center Open Hall in Seoul, the star host and comedian admitted during his acceptance speech that he received his first Grand Prize two decades ago.
With the 21st daesang title under his belt, he confessed to having great expectations despite humbling accepting the future’s uncertainty. He now aspires to crack the 30 Grand Prize-mark.
At the same time, he also expressed gratitude to his Hangout With Yoo co-stars and crew members, including HaHa, Joo Woo Jae, Park Jin Joo and Lee Mi Joo. Even Lee Yi Kyung, who recently dropped out of the show due to a personal controversy, earned a mention in Yoo’s speech.
