ShowReel, a startup led by Sabeer Bhatia, has embarked on a mission to revolutionise global education in the era of Artificial Intelligence. The company has partnered with Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) to introduce an inquiry-based learning app aimed at inspiring the next generation of entrepreneurs. The Jamia-ShowReel app aims to introduce a distinctive approach to inquiry-based learning, fostering fresh and critical thinking skills that will empower students to innovate on a global scale. ShowReel claims to have committed to reshaping education for the 21st century by harnessing the potential of Artificial Intelligence (AI) to craft inventive courses and produce concise, impactful videos to offer a transformative learning experience, according to an official release.
The primary objective of the Jamia-ShowReel platform is to provide a dynamic environment for open-ended exploration, experimentation and discovery, allowing students to apply their knowledge effectively. Notably, this collaboration represents the first instance of JMI partnering with a non-educational entity. Showreel further claims that for the first time, AI has been employed in course design and the Jamia-ShowReel platform will be the pioneer in awarding six credits for the successful completion of a course via the app, as per the release.
“We believe in the importance of empowering our youth with the right skills and tools for a brighter future. True creativity emerges from independent research, investigation, hands-on experiences, and pursuit of answers. By levelling the playing field and granting equal education opportunities, we are focused on embracing the transformative power of AI to change the way young minds think, making them adaptable to the continuously evolving world of technology,” Sabeer Bhatia, co-founder, ShowReel, said.
The primary goal of this partnership is to transition education from the conventional, instructor-driven model to a self-directed, inquiry-based approach. The platform departs from outdated educational methods in favour of nurturing creative thinkers and adept problem-solvers, well-prepared for the challenges of the future job market. Through this collaboration, ShowReel is committed to democratising access to education for all Indians, achieving this by merging innovation, AI and upskilling at the intersection of learning and progress, the release said.
“By harnessing the power of AI, the Jamia-ShowReel platform will serve as a catalyst for sparking students’s imaginations and cultivating curiosity. With this innovative platform, ShowReel and JMI are pioneering the future of education. The aim is not just to impart information, but to unlock creativity, communication skills, and real-world application in students,” Najma Akhtar, vice chancellor, JMI, said.
