The Shiksha Sanskriti Utthan Nyas, an affiliate of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), called for a reassessment of the CUET UG and PG examination system on Thursday. They highlighted issues such as the quality of question papers, examination conduct deficiencies, and student problems. Devendra Singh, the national coordinator of the trust, urged the National Testing Agency (NTA) to establish a continuous feedback system involving teachers, parents, and students to improve the CUET process.
In their statement, they emphasized the need for examination-conducting institutions to introspect on their inability to provide correct answers to a significant number of questions despite available resources. They suggested involving scholars and dedicated professors in the question formulation process for the CUET.
This demand follows the release of CUET UG answer keys by the NTA, which faced allegations of errors from several candidates. The NTA has announced a retest for CUET-UG candidates from July 15 to 19 if their grievances about the exam conduct are found valid. Singh pointed out that issues with faulty answer keys are common, from the Union Public Service Commission to the Staff Selection Commission of various states.
Singh also recommended that experienced academicians and professors be included in the entrance examination process. He urged the concerned institutions to consider eliminating outdated standards in the examination system and suggested that qualified professors, other experts, and retired scholars be given opportunities to contribute to the creation of an objective question bank. Additionally, he called on the Centre to periodically review the examination system with input from scholars.
