Rishihood University launched the Global Certification Programme on Leadership and Practice in Lactation and Breastfeeding (GCPLPLB). The programme is designed for executives and professionals with a focus on creating global leadership and clinical practice in this critical domain, as per the press release.
The launch event was held on January 26, 2024, with SSuresh Prabhu, chancellor, Rishihood University, gracing the event as the chief guest. Several eminent medical professionals and industry leaders also joined hands, committing to advancing lactation awareness globally, it added.
As per the release, for the programme, Rishihood has chosen to collaborate with Sushena Health Foundation (a social services organisation) and Dhaatri Milk Bank. This enhances the programme’s social impact manifold, addresses critical healthcare needs, and promotes social welfare, which often gets overlooked due to lack of lactation and breastfeeding awareness, the release added.
“The Global Lactation Leadership Program is a pivotal step towards creating a global impact in lactation awareness. Despite it being one of the most important biological processes for both a mother and child, there is shockingly little awareness about breastfeeding and lactation — both among men and women. This initiative is a step in the right direction to bridge that gap and Rishihood University is honoured to be at the forefront of this initiative,” Suresh Prabhu, said.
As the first university to pioneer such an initiative, Rishihood University aims to take the lead in shaping a new cadre of professionals equipped with the knowledge and skills needed to champion the cause of lactation. The Global Lactation Leadership Program is a testament to Rishihood’s commitment to fostering leadership and excellence in healthcare that transcends traditional boundaries.
