In a significant step, the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) takes the decision to nominate one teacher as a ‘Nature Coordinator’ in each municipal school, the step aimed at educating on conservation and promotion of nature at schools, according to the official announcement.
As per the officials the initiative also aims to inculcate a feeling of gratitude and dedication towards nature among children.
Officials further claimed that to ensure the active participation of students, they introduce activities such as eco clubs, growing plants, conducting environmental activities and developing and monitoring kitchen gardens in schools under programmes. These programmes will be monitored by the education department of the MCD which is known as ‘Prakriti Humse and Hum Prakriti Se’, the civic body said.
