New York Academy, a Hyderabad based school claims to have created a curriculum aligned with international standards while tailoring it to meet specific requirements of the Indian educational landscape. The school asserts that it offers interesting classroom activities to its students and boasts a team of skilled educators who employ diverse teaching methodologies to foster innovative problem-solving skills among their students, Viranica Manchu, founder, director, New York Academy, told FE Education. “We aim to empower learners by immersing them in hands-on, experiential learning, fostering the development of future leaders prepared to navigate a rapidly evolving world. Central to our mission is our specialised teacher training programme, which originates from the United States (US). This one-year degree programme is mandatory for all our local educators, ensuring that it is finely tailored to address the unique requirements of the Indian market,” she said.
The New York Academy claims to have a enrollment of 300 students and its goal is to increase enrollment to 450 in this fiscal year. Additionally, the school is in the process of preparing to open its second campus in Aziz Nagar, Hyderabad by the end of this fiscal year.
The school claims to have an ‘Early Age Centre’ where it claims to offer programmes to students aged between nine-eighteen months. In this case these toddlers are accompanied by their parents or guardians. This programme is followed by the ‘Drop-off Programme,’ which continues until the age of five years. Additionally, the academy boasts an elementary school programme, commencing at the first one. “We have recently introduced a middle school curriculum this year. As of now, our educational institution offers classes up to the eighth grade, providing a well-rounded educational experience,” Manchu said.
The school further asserts that a significant portion of parents are expat or are actively seeking a distinctive educational experience. “Within our school, we have the resources to create opportunities for our students, irrespective of their interests, allowing us to guide them in delving deeper into their chosen fields,” she added.
Moreover, the New York Academy claims that it has obtained accreditation from the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC). According to the school it is the second such institution in India to achieve this recognition from WASC. The school claims that it has made significant investments in professional development, providing their teachers and the learning community with exposure to the best global practices in order to achieve this accreditation. “Achieving this accreditation required six years of continuous adaptation and self-renewal. Keeping up with current trends and incorporating best practices from around the world is essential, as without this ongoing process of improvement, such accreditation remains elusive,” Manchu explained.
