The Central Board of Secondary Education will conduct practical examinations and Internal Assessment (IA) for class 10 and 12 board exam candidates from January 1 onwards, and the theory papers will begin on February 15, 2025. These dates are mentioned in the latest circular by the CBSE. The body has also published subject-wise marks allocation of board exam papers. The CBSE circular on board exam marks is available at cbse.gov.in.
In its previous circular, CBSE was quoted saying that although the examination bylaws state practical exams are scheduled to begin from January 1, winter-bound schools are bound to stay closed during that month.
Theory exam date sheet is still awaited. Going by the past trends, CBSE is likely to announce the theory paper date sheets in December.
This year around 44 lakh candidates will appear for class 10 and 12 board exams in 8,000 schools within the country and abroad. The board recently noted that it is mandatory for students to maintain at least 75% attendance to sit for the board exams.
“The board offers 25% relaxation only in cases of exigencies like participation in national or international sports events, medical emergencies and other serious reasons, provided the relevant documents are submitted,” CBSE stated.
Sample papers related to the board examination for both classes, 10 and 12, have been released on the CBSE website. Students can take some sample papers from cbseacademic.nic.in and practice them to attain the understanding of the marking scheme and pattern followed in the examination and kinds of questions asked in the test.
