Andhra Pradesh Human Resource Minister Nara Lokesh on Sunday launched a major state-wide initiative to provide free JEE and NEET coaching for students studying in government junior colleges. As part of this programme, more than one lakh class 11th and 12th students from 1,355 junior colleges will receive specially curated study material prepared by expert faculty to help them crack these competitive national-level entrance exams.

“This initiative gives every Andhra student a fair chance to dream big and achieve bigger,” said Lokesh in a press release.

Extended hours and trained faculty

To support this, the NDA coalition government has extended junior college hours till 5 pm, with two hours every day dedicated to intensive coaching sessions. The coaching will use high-quality, newly developed materials. Additionally, junior lecturers have undergone special training to deliver the lessons uniformly, ensuring consistent teaching standards regardless of the students’ location or socio-economic background, the press release added.

The programme will also include weekly assessments, continuous performance reviews, and tracking of individual progress. Calling it a “first of its kind” effort, Lokesh said the training will enable students from economically weaker sections to compete on “equal footing with their peers in elite institutions.”
