The jobs in cybersecurity have seen a decline of 25.7% since September 2022 after stricter regulations and frameworks, a report by global job site Indeed showed. Between 2019 and 2022, job postings in the field of cybersecurity experienced steady growth, with an impressive 81 percent increase.

The report relies on data gathered from job postings and job searches conducted on Indeed’s platform from 2019 to 2023, using keywords such as “cybersecurity,” “security,” “cybersecurity analyst,” and other terms related to security.

The data highlighted that there was a substantial demand for cybersecurity experts following the pandemic. However, a slip in the demand has been observed since September 2022.

The report added that the shift in demand did not mirror the interest of jobseekers as job clicks showed a 6% increase in the same period. This showed a sustained interest in cybersecurity roles.

It also showed that Bengaluru surfaced as the dominant player in India’s cybersecurity job market, capturing a significant 23.11% share, primarily due to its position as the country’s primary IT hub.

Following Bengaluru, Delhi-NCR accounted for a 7.95% share of the cybersecurity job market, while Mumbai held a 6.44% share.

Indeed India Head of Sales Sashi Kumar said that the current fall in the job listings is a “transient phase”. “It highlights the industry’s ability to adapt and evolve. The cybersecurity sector remains a cornerstone of technological advancement. Our data also reinforces that the future holds tremendous potential,” he added.
