New Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has delivered his farewell speech in the Lok Sabha today – he is still a Member of Parliament (MP) from his Gorakhpur constituency. Adityanath thanked everyone, including the Speaker Sumitra Mahajan for the love that he has experienced through his stint as MP. While laying out the plan for Uttar Pradesh, Yogi also paid tribute to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and thanked Finance Minister Arun Jaitley for breathing new life into the country’s economy. He also spoke at length about other issues that were playing on his mind. Here are the edited excerpts of his speech:

1. While praising BJP at the Centre, Yogi Adityanath said that his government in UP too will work for all sections without any discrimination. Yogi said his main focus is on ‘development and not on caste’.

2. ‘Rahul & Akhilesh ki jodi ke beech mein jo main aagaya ye aapki viphalta ka ek karan ho sakta hai’ ( I came in between their alliance and that’s why they failed in Uttar Pradesh assembly elections). He explained,” I am one year younger to Akhilesh and one-year elder to Rahul Gandhi.”

3. My govt will be for everyone, not specifically for any caste or community. We will work for development of all sections and castes and create a new structure of progress

4. The government that the BJP will run in Uttar Pradesh will ensure a goonda-gardi-mukt and barshtachaar-mukt society.

5. Uttar Pradesh will witness vikas during BJP’s regime. I invite everyone to come and see the transformation.

Yogi Adityanath reached Delhi  today and met the Prime Minister, BJP Chief Amit Shah, and also President Pranab Mukherjee.  He is also here to decide the portfolios of 47 ministers after consultations in Delhi.
