An Australian man, who ran to the pitch wearing a “Free Palestine” t-shirt, at the Narendra Modi stadium in Ahmedabad during the World Cup finale has been detained, reports The Indian Express.

He has been identified as Wen Johnson and has been taken by security personnel to the Chandkheda police station in Ahmedabad for questioning.

The man’s t-shirt also had ‘stop bombing Palestine’ text written on it, and he almost hugged cricketer Virat Kohli at the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup final on Sunday. He also wore a mask of the Palestine flag.

The incident happened just hours before Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived at the stadium to watch the match.

Meanwhile, India lost to Australia by four wickets in the keenly-watched CWC 2023 final on Sunday, ending the host team’s undefeated run in the tournament.
