In Uttar Pradesh’s Bharaich district, the ongoing terror of wolf attacks has claimed another victim. A tragic incident occurred last night in Mahasi, where a three-year-old girl was killed, and two women were injured in a wolf attack. In a separate incident in the Barbigha Hardi Police Station area, a 7-year-old boy and a woman were also attacked by a wolf.
In response to the growing threat, Bharaich authorities launched ‘Operation Bhediya’ to capture the wolves responsible for the attacks. Chief Forest Conservator Renu Singh, who is overseeing the operation, advised residents to stay indoors at night as a precaution.
So far, four out of six wolves have been captured, with efforts continuing to locate the remaining two. Drones are being used to track the animals, and forest teams are patrolling the area around the clock.
Renu Singh stated, “Drones are being flown continuously. Four wolves have been caught, and two are still at large. Our teams are working tirelessly to capture them.”
Residents have been urged to remain vigilant, avoid sleeping outside, carry sticks, and move in groups. Despite their efforts, the wolves have evaded capture, slipping away into sugarcane fields.
A relative of an injured child recounted the recent attack, saying, “My nephew was attacked by a wolf around 1:30 am. When we screamed, the wolf fled into the sugarcane fields. We even found its footprints in our house.”
The situation remains tense as authorities continue their search for the remaining wolves.
