Chief of Vanchit Bahujan Aghadi (VBA) Prakash Ambedkar said on Friday that if his party secures the necessary numbers in the Maharashtra assembly elections, it will support the side capable of forming the government.
In a post on X, Ambedkar, the grandson of Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar, asserted that VBA would align with the party or alliance that can establish a government.
“If VBA gets the numbers, tomorrow, to support a party or an alliance to form the government in Maharashtra, we will choose to be with one who can form the government. We will choose power!” wrote the Dalit leader on X.
The VBA has fielded 200 candidates in the Maharashtra assembly elections. In the 2019 state polls, the party contested 236 constituencies but failed to secure any seats, with a vote share of 5.5% in the seats it contested.
Voting for the 288-member state assembly concluded on November 20, and the results will be announced on November 23.
