January 8-9

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Andhra Pradesh and Odisha on January 8-9, launching transformative projects aimed at sustainable development, industrial growth, and enhanced infrastructure. During this visit, he will inaugurate and lay foundation stones for projects worth over Rs 2 lakh crore.

  • On January 8, PM Modi will launch the NTPC Green Energy Limited Green Hydrogen Hub at Pudimadaka near Visakhapatnam. As India’s first hub under the National Green Hydrogen Mission, this project represents a Rs 1,85,000 crore investment. With 20 GW renewable energy capacity, it will produce 1,500 TPD of Green Hydrogen and 7,500 TPD of derivatives such as Green Methanol, Green Urea, and Sustainable Aviation Fuel, primarily for export. This facility supports India’s vision of achieving 500 GW of non-fossil energy capacity by 2030.
  • The PM will also launch multiple railway and road projects on January 8 in Andhra Pradesh worth over Rs 19,500 crore. These include the foundation stone for the South Coast Railway Headquarters in Visakhapatnam, aimed at improving connectivity, reducing congestion, and driving regional socio-economic development.
    Boost to Healthcare and Pharmaceuticals
  • PM Modi will also lay the foundation for a Bulk Drug Park at Nakkapalli in Anakapalli district. Situated near the Visakhapatnam-Chennai Industrial Corridor (VCIC) and the Visakhapatnam-Kakinada Petrochemical Investment Region, this project is set to create thousands of jobs and strengthen the healthcare sector.
  • In Tirupati, the Prime Minister will launch the Krishnapatnam Industrial Area (KRIS City) under the Chennai-Bengaluru Industrial Corridor. Designed as a greenfield smart city, KRIS City is projected to attract ₹10,500 crore in manufacturing investments and generate nearly one lakh jobs, fostering economic growth and regional development.
  • Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the 18th Pravasi Bharatiya Divas (PBD) Convention in Bhubaneswar, Odisha. This flagship event by the Government of India aims to connect and engage with the Indian diaspora, fostering dialogue and collaboration. The convention, organized in partnership with the Odisha State Government, will take place from January 8 to 10, 2025, under the theme ‘Diaspora’s Contribution to a Viksit Bharat’ (Developed India).
  • During the event, the Prime Minister will virtually flag off the inaugural journey of the Pravasi Bharatiya Express, a special tourist train designed for the Indian diaspora. Departing from Nizamuddin Railway Station in Delhi, this train will embark on a three-week journey, covering multiple destinations of cultural, historical, and religious significance across India.
