India issued a fresh warning for Pakistan on Monday — with the Chief of the Army Staff insisting that the country was prepared for all eventualities. The remarks came days after Pakistani officials accused New Delhi of “backing” an Afghanistan-led suicide bombing attack and claimed they were “ready for war” with both nations.
“Operation Sindoor was just a trailer which ended in 88 hours. We are prepared for any circumstances in future. If Pakistan gives a chance, we will teach it how to behave responsibly with a neighbouring nation,” General Dwivedi warned.
‘India-China ties improving steadily’
Dwivedi also said on Monday that relations between Indian and China have improved since last October, following dialogue between the leaders of the two nations to bring about “normalcy.” He noted that recent meetings between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chinese President Xi Jinping had also helped alleviate tensions. The COAS added that the agreement over the Line of Actual Control (LAC) has been beneficial to New Delhi, and the Defence Ministers have decided told hold dialogue at the borders.
“There has been a lot of improvement in our (India and China) relations since last October, following dialogue between leaders of the two nations to bring normalcy,” General Upendra Dwivedi said.
Pakistan ‘ready for war’ with India, Afghanistan
Defense Minister Khawaja Asif had made waves last week after claiming that Pakistan was ready for a two-pronged war with India and Afghanistan. The assertion came mere hours after Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif claimed that a suicide bombing attack in Islamabad had originated in Afghanistan with “backing” from India. Multi-round peace talks between Afghanistan recently without an agreement as both sides continued to trade blame for border tensions.
“We are ready for war on two fronts. We are ready, we are prepared to face both the eastern (India) and western border (Afghanistan). Allah helped us in round one and He will help us in round two,” India Today quoted him as insisting during a public event.
India has pushed back sharply against claims that it was involved in the Islamabad terror attack — calling it a “predictable tactic” from Pakistan to deflect public attention from domestic issues.
