Several parts of northwest and south India received rainfall in the last 24 hours, however, according to the weather predictions by the India Meteorological Department (IMD), dry weather conditions are likely to prevail from today.
The meteorological department also informed that Southwest Monsoon has further withdrawn from entire East and Northeast India; some more parts of Andhra Pradesh and remaining parts of Telangana on October 17.
On Tuesday, IMD predicted light to moderate rainfall in parts of Northwest India, along with isolated thunderstorms and lightning. On the other hand, similar weather patterns were forecasted for South India. The region witnessed light to moderate rainfall coupled with thunderstorms and lightning on October 17 in parts of Tamil Nadu, Puducherry & Karaikal, Kerala & Mahe, and South Interior Karnataka.
Delhi records lowest maximum temperature in Oct this year
Delhi experienced a maximum temperature of 26.2 degrees Celsius on Tuesday, marking a notable drop of seven degrees below the usual October temperatures and the lowest maximum temperature recorded this month, according to weather department officials.
Overnight rainfall in the national capital contributed to a dip in the minimum temperature, which settled at 17.2 degrees Celsius, two degrees below the seasonal norm in the morning.
Gusty winds accompanied by rain prevailed in parts of Delhi on Monday night. The city received 5 mm of rainfall from 8.30 am on Monday to 8:30 am on Tuesday, as reported by IMD. At 8.30 am on Tuesday, the humidity level stood at 80%, decreasing to 68% by 5.30 pm. While, the Air Quality Index (AQI) at 9 am was rated at 123, classifying it in the ‘moderate’ category. However, by 8 pm, it improved to 88 (‘satisfactory’) on Tuesday.
