The India Meteorological Department (IMD) in its latest weather bulletin on Tuesday predicted intense heatwave conditions over east India and northwest for the next four days. Moreover, extremely heavy rainfall is expected to occur over Madhya Maharashtra, Marathwada, Goa, Konkan, Coastal, and North Interior Karnataka today, the Met department said in the bulletin.
IMD issues red alerts for THESE states
The IMD in its report has issued a red alert for Bihar, East Uttar Pradesh, and West Uttar Pradesh. Bihar is forecast to experience heatwave conditions on June 11, East Uttar Pradesh is going to deal with the same weather conditions from June 12 to June 14 and West Uttar Pradesh will experience it on June 13 and June 14. No respite from heatwave conditions for Delhi, Haryana, Chandigarh, Punjab, Jammu, Jharkhand, and Odisha in the upcoming four days. Rajasthan will be in the grip of heatwave from June 12 to 13, Himachal Pradesh will have hot weather conditions from June 12 to June 14 and Uttarakhand will face the heat from June 11 to June 14. Several parts of West Bengal will also face the brunt from it from June 11 to June 13.
Forecast on Southwest Monsoon Advancement
As per the IMD report, the Southwest Monsoon has extended into additional areas of the North Arabian Sea and Maharashtra. Within the next one-day, favourable conditions are expected to enable the Southwest Monsoon to expand into more regions of the north Arabian Sea, parts of South Gujarat, and additional areas of Maharashtra.
A presence of cyclonic circulation is identified over northeast Assam and its nearby areas at lower and middle tropospheric levels. This will likely result in isolated heavy rainfall over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, Assam, Meghalaya, and Arunachal Pradesh from June 11th to 14. Furthermore, very heavy isolated rainfall is anticipated over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, Assam and Meghalaya from June 11th to 14.
The Met Department has also alerted about a cyclonic circulation that exists over Marathwada at lower tropospheric levels. As a result, there is a high chance of isolated heavy rainfall over Konkan, Goa, Madhya Maharashtra, and Marathwada on June 11; Kerala and Mahe from June 11 to 12; Telangana on June 11; Karnataka from June 11 to 13; Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam on June 13th; and Rayalaseema on June 11th, 2024.
Strong surface winds over Haryana, Rajasthan & Uttar Pradesh
Another cyclonic circulation is positioned over north West Uttar Pradesh at lower and middle tropospheric levels, leading to strong surface winds of 25-35 km/h is expected over Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, and south Haryana from June 11 to 14, 2024.
