The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) in its latest weather report on Wednesday warned that heatwave conditions are likely to persist over many places in North India for today, June 19, and are likely to decrease gradually. Moreover, extremely heavy rainfall is expected to occur in Assam, Meghalaya, and Sub-Himalayan West Bengal for the next two days.
A red alert warning for severe heatwave conditions is issued for many parts of Uttar Pradesh from June 19 to June 20. A decline in the heat intensity is forecast in Bihar, Jharkhand, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand from today onwards. A hot weather spell is also expected in North Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh on June 19.
Heavy rainfall forecast
A cyclonic circulation presence is alerted by the Met Department, it is positioned over northeast Assam at the lower levels of the troposphere. As a result of this weather pattern, isolated to very heavy rainfall is anticipated in Meghalaya, Assam, Manipur and Sub-Himalayan West Bengal from June 19to June 21. Tripura, Nagaland, Manipur, and Mizoram are likely to experience the wet spell from June 19 and it will continue till June 22. Two cyclonic circulations have also been observed by the Weather Department over the West central Bay of Bengal and North Arabian Sea. Under its influence, isolated heavy rainfall is expected to take place over Coastal Karnataka, Mahe, and Kerala from June 19 to June 22.
Southwest monsoon advancement
As per the IMD weather report, conditions seem to be favourable for the Southwest Monsoon as it extends its reach towards, the Northwest Bay of Bengal, Odisha, Maharashtra, parts of Gangetic West Bengal, Bihar, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, and remaining parts of Sub-Himalayan West Bengal for next few days.
There is a high chance of a powerful surface wind occurring over Northwest India in the next two days.
