The India Meteorological Department has warned that rainfall activity is expected to intensify over northwest India from January 22 and 23, 2025. Moreover, dense to very dense fog is likely to prevail over the region during the next two days, followed by a decrease in intensity. The IMD has also warned that south interior Tamil Nadu and southern Kerala may get heavy downpours along with lightning and thunderstorms on January 19.
Rainfall and snowfall alert
A western disturbance is present in the lower and middle tropospheric levels and is likely to influence the weather conditions. Western Himalayan regions are expected to receive isolated to scattered rainfall or snowfall till January 21. Isolated downpours are expected to take place in northwest Indian plains from January 21 to January 23. Similar weather conditions are likely to prevail over Rajasthan, Punjab, Haryana, and Chandigarh on January 22 and West Uttar Pradesh is likely to experience it on January 22 and January 23. Moreover, isolated heavy snowfall is predicted to occur in Uttarakhand on January 23.
Dense Fog Warning
Bihar, Odisha, and Uttarakhand are likely to have dense fog on January 19 during the early morning hours and night. Likewise, Uttar Pradesh, West Rajasthan, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, and Punjab are expected to witness it from January 19 to January 21. West Bengal, Sikkim, Madhya Pradesh will get it by January 20, and northeastern regions like Manipur, Assam, Tripura, Nagaland, and Meghalaya may witness it till January 21.
Cold Day Forecast
The Weather Department has projected that cold conditions are expected to prevail in Madhya Pradesh on January 19 and Himachal Pradesh on January 22.
