Under the influence of western disturbances, light to moderate widespread rainfall/snowfall accompanied by thunderstorms & lightning is likely over Jammu, Kashmir, Ladakh, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand on February 5 and 6.
Meanwhile, heavy snowfall affected normal life in Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand on Sunday as several flights were canceled and roads, including national highways, were closed for vehicular traffic.
In Kashmir, all flights at Srinagar airport were canceled while traffic on the strategic 270-km Jammu-Srinagar National Highway was closed for nearly four hours following a landslide in Jammu’s Ramban district at around 11.15 am on Sunday, officials said.
Showers in several states
As per the India Meteorological Department (IMD), light to moderate rainfall accompanied by gusty winds is predicted over Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, Rajasthan, Bihar & Uttar Pradesh on February 5.
Widespread showers are also predicted in states like Arunachal Pradesh, West Bengal, Sikkim, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Mizoram, Manipur, and Tripura till February 7.
Delhi receives light rainfall, max temperature up
Delhi on Sunday recorded a maximum temperature of 20.3 degrees Celsius, two notches below the season’s average, after light morning rain, according to the national weather forecast agency.
Meanwhile, the national capital clocked the minimum temperature at 11.9 degrees Celsius, three notches above the season’s average.
A few pockets of Delhi-NCR received light rain today morning. The IMD has predicted more rain and moderate fog during the night hours.
Fog conditions to prevail
As MeT department, dense to very dense fog conditions are very likely to prevail in morning hours over some parts of Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, and Delhi on February 5 and in isolated pockets on February 6, 2024.
Foggy conditions will continue to prevail in the morning hours in isolated pockets of West Uttar Pradesh, north Rajasthan, Gangetic West Bengal, and Assam & Meghalaya today and tomorrow.
Minimum temperature forecast
A rise in minimum temperatures by 2-3°C is very likely over many parts of East India during the next 3 days and no significant change thereafter. Further, a fall in minimum temperatures by 2-4°C is likely over many parts of Northwest India during the next 3 days and no significant change thereafter.
