A fresh western disturbance is likely to affect the western Himalayan region from February 24, which would bring light to moderate rainfall and snowfall in the region till Feb 27, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) mentioned in their latest weather report.
Under its influence, hilly regions are likely to snowfall at a few places over Jammu-Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit, Baltistan, Muzaffarabad, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand
Northeast India to witness rainy conditions
The weather department has predicted intense rainfall with isolated heavy falls in northeast India during the next 2 days.
Further, jet stream winds with maximum speed up to 165 knots will prevail over northeast India at 12.6 km above mean sea level.
States like Arunachal Pradesh, Assam & Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura will receive isolated to scattered rainfall till Feb 25.
Delhi to see clear skies
As per the MeT forecast, the national capital will witness a mainly clear sky today, while the minimum and maximum temperatures are expected to hover around 9 and 27 degrees Celsius, respectively.
On Thursday, Delhi’s air quality improved from “poor” to “moderate” and the maximum temperature settled at 26.2 degrees Celsius, a notch above normal.
Delhi’s 24-hour Air Quality Index (AQI) was recorded in the “moderate” category with a reading of 145, as per the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) data.
