The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted rainfall with isolated thunderstorm activity over northeast & adjoining east India till February 23, 2024.

A fresh western disturbance is likely to affect the western Himalayan region from February 24 and under its influence, isolated to scattered rainfall and snowfall is likely over the region from Feb 24 to 27. 

Delhi to see cloudy sky 

The MeT has forecast a partly cloudy sky in the national capital today, while the minimum and maximum temperatures are expected to hover around 11 and 25 degrees Celsius, respectively.

On Wednesday, the city recorded a maximum temperature of 26.9 degrees Celsius, a notch above the normal, while the minimum temperature settled at 12.2 degrees Celsius in the morning.

Meanwhile, Delhi’s air quality remained in the ‘poor’ category with a reading of 245, according to Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) data.

An AQI between zero and 50 is considered ‘good’, 51 and 100 ‘satisfactory’, 101 and 200 ‘moderate’, 201 and 300 ‘poor’, 301 and 400 ‘very poor’, and 401 and 500 ‘severe’.

Cyclonic circulation over northeast Assam 

Due to a cyclonic circulation over northeast Assam & neighborhoods in lower tropospheric levels, fairly widespread to widespread rainfall and snowfall over Arunachal Pradesh is expected till Feb 23.

Further states Assam, Sikkim Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura will also see rainy conditions till Feb 27. Hailstorm activity is also likely at isolated places over Gangetic West Bengal today, the MeT department mentioned. 

Temperature forecast

As per IMD, no significant change in minimum temperatures is likely over northwest India during the next 24 hours and fall by 2-3 °C after that. Further, there would be no major change in minimum temperatures over the rest parts of north India during the next 5 days.
