People in North India will continue to experience foggy and cold day conditions during the next 2 days, according to the latest India Meteorological Department’s (IMD) weather forecast.

Cold-day to severe cold-day conditions are very likely to continue in some parts of Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Uttar Pradesh, till January 22. Besides, isolated pockets of Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, Rajasthan and north Madhya Pradesh will see chilly weather for the next few days.

Foggy conditions to prevail over parts of the country

Further, dense fog conditions are very likely to prevail for a few hours in the night/morning over some parts of the northern and other parts of the country till January 20.

Notably, jet stream winds are prevailing over the plains of North India, which could lead to subsidence of cold air and enhance cold wave/cold day conditions over North India. The similar intensity of the jet stream is likely to continue during the next 3-4 days.
