The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast light to heavy rainfall across various parts of India on Tuesday, while cold wave conditions continue to grip several regions. According to IMD, a well-marked low-pressure area over the Southwest and adjoining Westcentral Bay of Bengal is expected to move west-southwestward, bringing rain to southern India.

Rainfall in Southern and Eastern States

Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Rayalaseema are likely to experience light to moderate rainfall, accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning in some areas. Heavy rainfall is predicted for isolated locations in coastal Andhra Pradesh and Rayalaseema.

Coastal Odisha may also witness light to moderate rainfall, with heavy rainfall expected in isolated places. However, no thunderstorms or lightning are predicted for the region. In the Western Himalayan region, including Jammu and Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh, light to moderate rainfall or snowfall is likely in isolated areas.

Cold wave to severe cold wave conditions are predicted in Himachal Pradesh, while Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Punjab, Haryana, and Chandigarh are likely to experience cold wave conditions.

Dense fog is expected at isolated places in Uttar Pradesh, Odisha, Rajasthan, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Bihar, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura. In Himachal Pradesh, heavy snowfall has led to a sharp drop in temperatures, with ground frost predicted in Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, and parts of Northeast India.

The national capital is expected to have clear skies, but moderate fog or smog conditions will prevail during early morning hours, with dense fog at isolated spots. By evening, shallow fog and smog are expected to return. Very light rainfall or drizzle is also a possibility on Tuesday.
