Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel on Friday made a strong pitch for industries in India and abroad to invest in Gujarat, highlighting the potential of the event conceptualised by Prime Minister Narendra Modi which has, over the years, led to the creation of new industries, technology, and job opportunities.

The Chief Minister was speaking at the curtain-raiser event for the 10th edition of the Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit, which will mark 20 years with the coming 10th edition scheduled for January 2024, in Delhi on Friday. Over 1,500 investors, delegates, captains of industries, and entrepreneurs from diverse sectors graced the event.

Addressing the gathering, CM Patel acknowledged the visionary leadership of the Prime Minister, reminiscing about the inception of the Vibrant Gujarat Summit in 2003. Emphasizing the Prime Minister’s vision of ‘One Earth, One Family, One Future’, he highlighted how this event has evolved into a global platform for collaboration, focusing on shared progress.

“Gujarat is fortunate to become the growth engine of India in the last two decades under the visionary guidance of the Prime Minister. Vibrant Gujarat Summit has played a critical role in the development journey of Gujarat in the last two decades. Today, this summit has become one of the most prestigious global forums for business networking, knowledge sharing and partnership for socio-economic development,” the Chief Minister said.

Patel further said that the seed of the Vibrant Summit, sown by the Prime Minister, has now grown into a mighty tree, reaffirming Gujarat’s unwavering commitment to continue the legacy. “You all are witnesses of this unique progressive journey – “Amrit Kaal” of India. The continuous development of Gujarat is acquiring shape during this Amrit Kaal, and India’s development journey is also gaining momentum due to the development-oriented governance of Gujarat,” he added.

Patel said that over the last two decades, Gujarat has been the most preferred destination for investments and credited the government’s proactive policy-led approach, ease of doing business, investor-friendly attitude and strong industrial infrastructure for the achievement.

Patel said that Gujarat’s renewable energy capacity has reached 20 GW, accounting for 15 per cent of India’s total renewable energy capacity. “We are also developing the world’s largest hybrid renewable energy park in Kutch. Not only this, but we have also set a target to generate 100 GW of renewable energy under our Green Hydrogen Mission.”

The Chief Minister said that Gujarat has been a pioneer in recognising the potential of the semiconductor sector and is also the first state in the country to implement a semiconductor policy. “Gujarat has established itself as the most preferred destination in India for semiconductor sector and display fab manufacturing. Micron, India’s first and largest investor in the semiconductor sector, has recently started the setting up of semiconductor plant in Gujarat,” he said.

Prominent figures, including Finance and Energy Minister Kanubhai Desai, Union MoS Darshana Jardosh, Mahendra Munjpara, Gujarat Industries Minister Balwantsinh Rajput, state minister Harsh Sanghavi, and senior state government secretaries, were also present at the occasion.

The 10th Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit will be held from January 10 to 12 next year with the theme ‘Gateway to the Future.’ PM Narendra Modi will inaugurate the summit and a global trade show to be held from January 9 to 13, showcasing disruptive technologies and championing the service sector.
