Just a few weeks after a Spanish tourist was reportedly gang-raped in Jharkhand’s Dumka, another woman tourist from Uzbekistan was found dead at a hotel in Bengaluru, Karnataka, on Wednesday. The 37-year-old woman had arrived in the city four days ago on a tourist visa.
The woman, identified as Zareena, was found dead in her room at Jagadish Hotel in Bengaluru’s Seshadripuram area.
According to the police, the hotel staff had knocked on the door at 4.30 pm, but there was no response. The staff then used a master key to open the door and found Zareena dead.

The hotel manager promptly filed a complaint, and police registered a case of mysterious death.
Shekhar HT, DCP, Bengaluru Central, said the police suspect that she was smothered to death. “The victim’s body was sent to Bowring Hospital for a post-mortem,” he told India Today.
The Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) team, accompanied by a canine squad, combed through the room for any traces of evidence. The CCTV and register at the hotel are being examined to see if anyone visited Zareena’s room on Wednesday.
More details are awaited as further investigation is underway.
