Delhi Police has arrested the owner and coordinator of a coaching center where three students lost their lives because of flooding caused by heavy downpours on Sunday. As per officials, the individuals have been charged with culpable suicide and other accusations.
Sections charged to the coaching owners & coordinator
Deputy Commissioner of Police M Harsha Vardhan mentioned, ‘’We have booked an FIR on owners and coordinators at Rajinder Nagar Police Station under sections 106 (1) (death because of rash or negligent act not amounting to culpable homicide, 105 (culpable homicide, 290 (negligent conduct related to buildings), 115 (2) (punishment for intentionally causing hurt), and 35 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and have begun an investigation. Two people have been detained so far- one the coordinator and the other the owner of the coaching center.’’
Who were the UPSC aspirants who died because of flooding?
All three students were UPSC aspirants and have been identified as Navin Dalwin from Ernakulam in Kerala, Shreya Yadav from Ambedkar Nagar in Uttar Pradesh, and Tanya Soni who hailed from Telangana. All of them died on Saturday as the basement of the coaching center in Delhi’s Old Rajinder Nagar area was inundated because of heavy showers.
The Deputy Commissioner of Police stated, ‘’A total of three bodies have been found from the basement of the building. All the victims have been identified and their families have been informed about the mishap. Search and rescue operations have been completed.’’
