With the Ram Temple inauguration expected to significantly boost the party’s prospects in the state, the Bharatiya Janata Party has set out on an ambitious mission to win all 80 Lok Sabha seats in Uttar Pradesh. The party had bagged 62 seats in the state despite an alliance between the Samajwadi Party and Bahujan Samaj Party.
The top leadership of the state unit of the BJP, including Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, party chief Bhupendra Chaudhary, national general secretary Vinod Tawde, Deputy CMs Keshav Prasad Maurya and Brajesh Pathak and state general secretary (organisation) Dharampal Singh, met in Lucknow on Thursday and decided on several measures to be undertaken in the coming months leading up to the Lok Sabha elections slated for April-May.
Among the measures to be taken as part of its outreach campaign is a ‘Gaon Chalo Abhiyan’ which aims to establish a dialogue with village residents across the state. This initiative will see BJP workers visit villages and hold chaupals. The workers will be asked to spend at least one night in the village.
A parallel ‘Beneficiaries Sampark Abhiyan’ is also set to be undertaken to reach out to the ‘Labharthis’ of different welfare schemes rolled out by the central government. The exercise will also see contact programmes informing citizens about the “historical steps” taken by the Narendra Modi government.
A separate programme to connect with first-time voters will also be undertaken to reach out to them and establish direct communication. Beginning January 24, party leaders will embark on this exercise which will also see two conventions for first-time voters in every Assembly constituency in the state, besides efforts to reach out to the youth in colleges and hostels.
