Two soldiers and two terrorists were killed on Monday on Monday as security forces launched an encounter in the Kulgam area of Jammu and Kashmir. Security forces had launched a search operation in the Gudar forest area after receiving information about the presence of terrorists. This had turned into an encounter after the terrorists opened fire at the positions of the security forces.
Two soldiers — identified as Sub Perbhat Gaur and Lance Naik Narender Sindhu — were injured during the operation and later succumbed to their wounds. An Army Major was also injured during the gunfight but remains in a stable condition. Initial reports indicate one of the neutralised terrorists was a local, while the second is believed to be a foreign militant with the code name ‘Rehman Bhai’.
“One more terrorist has been eliminated in the ongoing Operation at Guddar forest of Kulgam. One soldier suffered injuries and is being evacuated for requisite medical care. Identity of terrorists is being ascertained. Operation is in progress,” the Chinar Corps wrote on X.
“Chinar Corps honours the supreme sacrifice of the Bravehearts, Sub Perbhat Gaur and L/Nk Narender Sindhu, in line of duty for the Nation. Their courage and dedication will forever inspire us. Indian Army expresses deepest condolences and stands in solidarity with the bereaved families. Operation continues,” added a later update.
