Tripura Floods News: The ongoing flood situation in Tripura has claimed at least 22 lives and two others have gone missing.
Earlier, officials said that about 65,400 people have sought shelter at 450 relief camps in the state after their houses were damaged due to heavy downpour.
Amidst the situation, the Assam Rifles have initiated widespread Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR) efforts under the operation code-named Op JAL RAHAT.
Two columns from the 18 Assam Rifles, operating under the HQ 21 Sector Assam Rifles and IGAR (East), have been deployed to the flood-affected regions of Amarpur, Bhampur, Bishalgarh, and Ramnagar in Tripura.
As per a statement from the Indian Army, two dedicated columns having a strength of over 80 personnel together are engaged in the rescue and relief efforts. The teams have successfully rescued 334 civilians who were stranded as a result of the rising floodwaters.
Besides this, seven civilians have been provided medical aid. Essential rations and supplies have been distributed to 85 affected individuals, ensuring their immediate food needs are met during this crisis.
The state government has announced financial assistance of Rs 4 lakh to the victims’ families.
When the landslides hit the Ashwani Tripura Para and Debipur in Santirbazar, about 10 people got buried under the rubble, Chief Minister Manik Saha revealed in a post on Facebook.
