Udhampur CRPF accident: A Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) vehicle carrying 23 personnel, while en route from Kadwa to Basant Garh, met with an accident in Udhampur. Three personnel have been declared dead, including two who died on the spot. At least 15 others are critically injured after the vehicle skidded off the road and rolled down into a gorge. The incident took place at around 10:30 AM when the 187 battalion was returning from an operation.

Union Minister of State for Science and Technology, Jitendra Singh, spoke to Deputy Commissioner DC Saloni Rai, who is monitoring the situation. Sharing an X post, he wrote, “Disturbing to receive the news of a road accident involving a CRPF vehicle in the Kandva-Basantgarh area. The vehicle was carrying several brave jawans of the CRPF.” He shared he that spoke to Rai who and added that the locals voluntarily came forward to assist the rescue operations.

The official account of the Lt. Governor of Jammu and Kashmir Manoj Sinha, condoled the loss of lives of the CRPF personnel. It read “We will never forget their exemplary service to the nation. My thoughts are with bereaved families.”
