Thiruvananthapuram Lok Sabha Election 2024 Result Highlights: Thiruvananthapuram, one of Kerala’s 20 parliamentary constituencies, includes seven assembly segments: Kazhakoottam, Vattiyoorkavu, Thiruvananthapuram, Nemom, Parassala, Kovalam, and Neyyattinkara. The constituency voted in the second phase of the Lok Sabha elections on April 26, with a 66% voter turnout. The candidates are Rajeev Chandrasekhar (BJP), Dr. Shashi Tharoor (INC), and Pannyan Raveendra (CPI). The counting of votes has commenced at all the designated centres in the constituency.
The contest between Congress MP Shashi Tharoor and Union Minister Rajeev Chandrasekhar is getting intense with the latter leading by just over 5,000 votes.

The Congress is leading on 7 seats in Kerala, namely: Kasaragod, Kannur, Vadakara, Wayanad, Kozhikode, Palakkad, Chalakudy, Ernakulam, Idukki, Alappuzha, Mavelikkara, Pathanamthitta and Attingal. The BJP is currently leading on two seats including Congress stronghold Thiruvananthapuram where it is a contest between BJP’s Rajeev Chandrasekhar and Congress’s Shashi Tharoor. The saffron party is also leading on Thrissur seat.

In the 2019 Lok Sabha general elections, Dr. Shashi Tharoor of the Indian National Congress (INC) triumphed in this constituency, defeating Kummanam Rajasekharan of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) by a margin of 99,989 votes, accounting for 9.9% of the total votes cast. The INC secured a vote share of 41.15% in this seat in 2019.
In the 2014 elections, Tharoor emerged victorious in this constituency, overcoming O Rajagopal of the BJP by a margin of 15,470 votes, which was 1.77% of the total votes polled. The INC garnered a vote share of 34.1% in this seat.
