Any one who claims to have a close relationship with Prime Minister Narendra Modi either does not know him or is lying, said former Union Minister and BJP leader Smriti Irani as she went to break the biggest myth around the PM. In a conversation with actress Soha Ali Khan, the ex-Amethi MP said there is a big myth that surrounds the Prime Minister and she went on the same.

“Let me break the biggest myth. Okay,” she said, adding “There is nobody close to the Prime Minister.”

“Anybody that you ever meet who says how great a close relationship they share with the Prime Minister, they either don’t know the Prime Minister or their outright line,” she said.

Smriti Irani said that PM Modi left home for a “larger purpose”. “He has never picked up people who then don’t become effective enough to serve that larger cause.,” she said.

“For him, it’s very clear. I have one life. I want to give back to my country,” she said, adding that PM Modi teaches people “how to work in detail. You better know your job.”

Stressing on the fine memory retention capability of the Prime Minister, Irani said PM Modi would remember “what you said on that topic in 2007 and he would just look at you and be like, No, I don’t think so.”

“You don’t want to be in that space ever. In my 10 years of working with him as Minister, if you look back, my two opportunities of serving were courtesy him,” Irani concluded.
