Unemployment
Job-creation is one of the important issues in Telangana. In its election manifesto, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) said that those pursuing degrees (or professional courses) will be provided free laptops. The saffron party promised 10 lakh jobs for females. In the state, the party will ensure that employment is provided to youth in the next five years, promised the BJP. The promises come on the back of concerns around the lack of job opportunities in the state despite the government’s claims of 300 per cent increase in the number of employees in the IT sector. Both BJP and Congress have mentioned job-creation as one of their top poll promises if they come to power in the state.

Farmers’ issues
Like many states in the country, farmers’ issues are also important in this youngest state of India. The Congress party in its manifesto promised that farmers and agricultural labourers will receive Rs 15,000 and Rs 12,000 as financial assistance every year. Farmers will also receive a bonus of Rs 500 per quintal for paddy above the minimum support price (MSP). The Bharat Rashtra Samithi in its manifesto promised that farmers under the Rythu Bandhu scheme will get Rs 10,000 per annum per acre which will be increased gradually to Rs 16,000 per year over the next five years.
The Rebel Factor
The presence of rebels across parties presents a unique challenge to the BRS as well as the Congress. Rebels are known to wield significant influence over the final the electoral outcomes in crucial assembly seats. The election results will also depend on how well parties have managed to quell their own internal dissent.
