Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tejashwi Yadav on Sunday avoided being struck by a drone that crashed onto his podium during a rally at Gandhi Maidan in Patna. The incident occurred while the former deputy chief minister was addressing the ‘Save Waqf, Save Constitution’ gathering. Eyewitnesses reported that Yadav ducked just in time as the unmanned aerial vehicle descended, hitting the podium instead of him.

Speaking to PTI, Patna SP (Central), Diksha, confirmed that authorities are investigating the matter. “We are looking into the incident. It was a restricted area and such an object should not have landed there. The police team was busy managing the crowd when the rally was underway. But the matter will be definitely investigated thoroughly,” she stated. The unexpected crash temporarily disrupted the rally, though Yadav was unharmed and continued his address.

Tejashwi slams NDA during rally

RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav on Sunday slammed the ruling National Democratic Alliance (NDA) in Bihar, predicting its imminent departure from power and pledging that a new Mahagathbandhan government would “consign to dustbin” the Waqf Act enacted by the Narendra Modi dispensation.

Addressing a massive ‘Save Waqf, Save Constitution’ rally at the historic Gandhi Maidan, Yadav, along with leaders from various opposition parties, wore black bands as a symbol of protest against the contentious law.

The Leader of Opposition in the Bihar assembly emphasised the RJD’s unwavering opposition to the Act. “Our national president Lalu Prasad has made it clear that the RJD will oppose this law tooth and nail. Our MPs opposed it in both Houses of Parliament. We have also moved the court against the legislation,” Yadav asserted.

Looking ahead to the upcoming assembly polls later this year, Yadav confidently told the gathering, “I would also ask my Muslim brethren in Bihar to remember that the NDA government is on its way out. In November, a new pro-poor government will be installed in the state and it will consign the Waqf Act to the dustbin.”
