Surat-based diamond trader Mukesh Patel has gifted a ‘mukut’ (crown) worth Rs 11 crore to the Ram Lalla idol installed at the newly constructed Ram Mandir in Ayodhya. The crown was specially made for Ram Lalla, embedded with precious stones, and weighs six kg.

Mukesh Patel, an industrialist, owns a diamond company named Greenlab Diamonds in Surat, Gujarat. The crown consists of 4 kilograms of gold along with diamonds, rubies, pearls, and sapphires of various sizes, PTI reported.

The opulent golden crown for Ram Lalla, crafted with gold and precious stones, was generously gifted to the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra — the Ayodhya temple trust — by Surat-based Greenlab Diamonds, according to Dinesh Navdia, the national treasurer of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP).

On January 5, two employees from the Surat firm flew to Ayodhya to measure the head of the Ram Lalla idol for the precise preparation of the crown, Navadia revealed.

In addition to the splendid gold jewelled crown gracing the Ram Lalla idol, two silver replicas of the shrine were presented as gifts from Surat, Gujarat. These silver temple replicas, each weighing three kilograms, were crafted by D Khushaldas Jewellers in Surat approximately four months ago, coinciding with the announcement of the consecration date for the Lord Ram temple, according to its owner, Deepak Chokshi.

“Surat is famous for gold, silver, and diamonds, and the two silver temple replicas prepared by D Khushalbhai Jewellers were gifted to PM Modi and Mohan Bhagwat. Four months back, we had met (UP Chief Minister) Yogiji with the temple model, and he suggested that we install Ram Lalla in the temple model and make some other changes,” Chokshi said, PTI reported.

The Ram Lalla idol was consecrated at the Ayodhya temple in an event presided over by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and witnessed by thousands on television in their homes and temples across the nation. During the ‘Pran Pratishtha’ rituals, PM Modi participated alongside Uttar Pradesh Governor Anandiben Patel, Yogi Adityanath, and RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat.
