While hearing YouTuber Ranveer Allahbadia’s plea on Tuesday, the Supreme Court slammed him for the inappropriate remarks on Samay Raina’s YouTube show – ‘India’s Got Latent’. “If this is not obscenity, what is it? Why should we quash or club FIRs against you,’ SC asked Allahbadia. The court further granted him interim protection from the arrest and asked him to cooperate in investigation of FIRs that were lodged against him in Maharashtra and Assam. The apex court said no additional FIRs will be filed against Allahabadia now.

Apart from Allahbadia and the show’s creator Samay Raina, others who had participated in the episode including influencers Ashish Chanchlani, Jaspreet Singh, and Apoorva Makhija, have also been named in the case.

Here are top 5 latest developments on Ranveer Allahbadia row:

– According to a joint statement issued by the Mumbai and Guwahati Police, Ranveer Allahbadia wasn’t within reach when investigation agencies tried to contact him. However, the YouTuber had released a statement on his social media account and said, “”My team and I are cooperating with the police and all other authorities. I will follow due process and be available to all agencies.” He also confessed that he was feeling scared as strangers, posing as patients, were trying to enter his mother’s clinic.

– Meanwhile, the Maharashtra Cyber Cell has summoned Allahbadia to appear before them on February 24. On the other hand, Samay Raina has also been asked to appear before them on February 18.

– Amid all this, the National Commission for Women (NCW) gave fresh summons to Ranveer Allahbadia and others who appeared on the controversial episode. The fresh dates came after the influencers failed to appear on the date that was set earlier. NCW said that they had considered the reasons for their absence which claimed personal safety issues and foreign commitments that were made prior to the whole controversy. Ranveer Allahbadia’s hearing has been rescheduled to March 6.

– Samay Raina, who is currently in US for a pre-planned tour has assured NCW that he will come for the hearing as soon as he is back. His hearing has been scheduled for March 11. Raina too had issued a statement where he said, “I will fully cooperate with all agencies to ensure their inquiries are concluded fairly.”

– An official complaint was lodged with both the Mumbai Commissioner and the Maharashtra Women’s Commission after the whole controversy erupted. It accuses the ‘India’s Got Latent’ of using language that is abusive and inappropriate comments about women to attract more views and generate financial gain.
